Christine Joan
The
Meeting
Since 1826, the Pascucci family’s workshop in Gambettola, Italy, has been the guardian of a centuries-old craft: the art of woodblock printing. Through hand-carved pear wood matrices and natural pigments, they adorn linen fabrics with geometric, floral, and animal motifs that speak of history, territory, and imagination. For seven generations, the Pascucci family has passed down this artisanal knowledge with care and passion, preserving its essence while embracing innovation. From the traditional rust color—born from the local iron-rich soil—to a broader, expressive palette, their prints have evolved while staying true to their roots. Collaborations with artists like Tonino Guerra have further enriched this dialogue between craft and creativity.
Â
It was within this extraordinary space that Christine Joan Johnson—creative director, writer, visual artist, and event producer—found the inspiration for one of her most visionary projects. With a background shaped by the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and a lifelong commitment to sustainability, Christine saw in the Pascucci workshop not only beauty, but purpose. She imagined a new life for unsold garments, transformed through the ancient art of printing into wearable narratives. From this encounter was born a project that unites craftsmanship and contemporary expression, creating one-of-a-kind pieces that carry the weight of memory and the spark of reinvention. A dialogue between past and future, heritage and identity, soul and material.
